About Me
Hi, thanks for dropping by!
Hey there! I’m Emma, Em, or Emmie (however the mood takes you) I live in Cornwall, and the Kylgh Kernow trail goes past my door, so it already feels like it has a piece of me. I will run it, or more accurately, run/toddle, hike, and hobble around it in one go. I’m going to do it kinda semi-supported, i.e. I won’t have a crew, and I will be on my own in theory, but everyone is most welcome to bring me cake, hugs, and company at any point on my journey.

Once upon a time, I would be trying to do this quickly or to set a time, but things are different nowadays. I’ve got a poorly spine that I manage with strength training, yoga, and much self-care, but it is a big unknown what might happen over this distance. I have both transiting and exiting neural encroachment, which means I have bilateral neural impingement down my legs. In simple terms, I can have zero pain through to excruciating 9/10 pain down one or both legs. Sometimes I can have a pain that feels like a major calf tear, and sometimes a pain that starts in my arse and runs down my leg. Sometimes it niggles; sometimes, it shouts. Sometimes it is in one leg, sometimes in both. These things come and go. Some stuff makes it worse, BUT sitting down makes it worse than anything else. This makes me think that this attempt might actually be possible as I ain't planning on a lot of sitting down!!
Anyway, enough of that. I plan to complete Kylgh Kernow even if I end up hiking the whole thing. I have given myself tons of time and no support crew, so the pressure is truly off, and I will enjoy the journey to the start and end.

This blog will be my story there.
